Merry Meet, All..................
A snow day in the South......look out! Panic, chaos, confusion.....you can find that in abundance here. Just try finding any bread or milk, lol!I'm from the South; a GRITS to the bone, but I've never once panicked over any bad weather. But, if the forecast even hints at the "S"-word, look out-----if you happen to be near a grocery store, you'll be trampled as everyone races to clean out all the shelves of bread and milk. I wonder why just those 2 items are so attractive? Some take NO chances----the snow might last TWO days, eh?----so those folks load up on everything. NOT a good idea, should there be an ice storm to break lots of smaller trees and tree limbs, which then knock down power lines, causing a power outage long enough for that $300 worth of groceries to rot.
The other thing that happens is that by some unspoken law that even the police don't understand, once accumulation reaches one inch---that's right, one whole inch---ALL traffic signs, signals, and laws are null and void until the snow melts. Especially if you have 4WD. Or even anti-lock brakes. Until 5 years ago, I was a nurse, and 6 years I was in Home Health, and another 7 I was in Hospice. Even before that, the hospital didn't close for bad weather! I had to be there regardless. I grew a 7th sense about lawless 4WD-ers, loaded with bread & milk, ready to mow me down at random intersections!
So good luck out there, and stay safe!
